Congratulations, Archbishop Prendergast on the launch of your book Living God's Word: Reflections on the Sunday Readings for Year A!
It's published by Novalis just in time for the Advent and Christmas shopping. Late this afternoon, there was a reception in the Atrium of Saint Paul University and a nice turn out of friends and well-wishers to show support.
The pictures show his sister Marion and her husband John buying a stack of books (They came up from Barrie for the event); Archbishop Prendergast seated with Novalis publisher Joe Sinasac, my former boss when he was co-chair of Canadian Catholic News and publisher of the Catholic Register; a crowd shot taken before the numbers peaked; and the archbishop telling my friend Barbara Powell about the book.
The archbishop said he hoped the reflections would help people to live out God's Word and see Sunday's homily and mass as a beginning for the rest of the week. He also suggested that some might want to reflect on the passages in advance of Sunday.
The book is a reworking of a popular column the Archbishop wrote for the Catholic Register back in the late 90s and early part of this century, with some additions. He promises that books for Years B and C are in the works.
Again, congratulations, Archbishop Prendergast. It's a lot of work to get a book out there into the world. Wishing you every success and that the book will inspire and touch many people to go deeper into Holy Scripture and find God speaking to them.
